This is actually a pretty good idea for the gas model. It eliminates having to change the heat shield on older models that rust out every year. Similar to the new style Weber uses now but in a much more durable heat retaining design.

Those cast iron grates look nice, but it adds 7 pounds to your kit. Have you tried Grillgrates? I’m tanking out my cat iron gate on my Q220 once I figure out a way to secure my Grillgrates.
